The consultant must have an excellent business and academic background, together with a strong desire to improve himself.

There are no theories or operative methods always useful, but a customized consulting plan for that firm, that organization, that management, that market in this moment.

We are sure could be useful to list some steps we usually follow before customize a consulting plan:

-   try to understand which are the real needs and where to focus our attention;

-   make us and the management take consciousness of the business mission;

-   come in touch with people working in the offices and departments of the client to create feeling and cooperation;

-   understand the actual timing and way of working in the business processes;

-   come in touch with external references of the firm (clients, prospects and people working in the supply chain) to understand their needs in relation with the firm's mission and business plan, with the aim to verify their synchronization;

-    set targets for every department/office using internal or external defined benchmarks;

-    put in action, if necessary, a learning and growing plan for employees;

-    discuss, maybe change, the defined working plan (integration of strategy, people, processes and technology) with internal management;

-     avoid to face all problems together but proceed step by step increasing employees' involvement;

-     try to approach a continuous updating individual effort;

-     finally show to the top management and/or shareholders a final report with: the processes studied and analyses applied, a marketing plan with time planning, next check-ups using internal and external benchmarks.

-    plan next periodical meeting (every 1-2 years) to analize new internal and external innovations that can make change the defined processes and way of working
